HRC 2026-27 Budget: $9,000 (deduct $3,00 for 2026 scholarships)
Retreat Answers
Question was asked at the HRC retreat about how the City’s budget is generated. The
following statement can be found in the City Manager’s Budget Message within the
2025-26 Fiscal Year Budget - The General Fund significantly supports the city's
programs and services, generating revenue from various sources, including ad valorem
taxes, sales tax, occupancy tax, user fees, transfers from utility enterprises, borrowing
proceeds, sales, services and investments.
Question was asked at the HRC retreat regarding ordinance text about donations. The
following statement can be found in Article IV, Division 3 - Lexington Human Relations
Commission, Sec 2-158 - Receipt and expenditure of funds: The commission may receive
contributions from private agencies, foundations, organizations, individuals and the
state or federal government, or any other source in addition to any sums appropriated
for its use by the city council. It may accept and disburse these funds for any purpose
within the scope of its authority and as herein specified.
Donations
All non-profit organization check presentations have been completed.
The Commission received two thank you notes from Davidson Medical Ministries & Project Potential
A social media post has been shared acknowledging the donations.
The $1,000 donation the Commission made to the Parks & Recreation Department to
assist in the purchasing of new soccer goals has been accepted.
Events
The City’s Transportation Team is planning more community engagement events
centered around the Connecting Lexington: Multimodal Transportation Plan. The team will be hosting some pop-up events in September and October.
